Norton anti-virus (current version 17.9.0.12) slows several laptop PCs to a virtual crawl (with the hourglass constantly appearing) during the first 15-30 minutes after power up. The Norton anti-virus seems itself to act like malware and unless a reasonable solution can be found to selectively disable it, we will remove it from all our corporate PCs and try something else. We never had this problem with previous competitive products we used about 4-5 years ago and it seems to have gotten worse with Norton during the last several years.
Specific question. Is there an easy way to disable Norton anti-virus from gobbling up 90-95% of system resources.
