I chatted with Norton support a minute ago. They said there is no confirmation about the 8.8.1 release date. They said we will know it came after running a live update.
Here we are at the end of the first week in October when 8.8.1 was slated for release. I removed Norton from this computer, so I am hoping for a mention of the update here so that I can reinstall it again. Thanks.
From a support response to another posting in this forum -asking about 8.8.1:
8.8.1 is slated for release by the end of Oct 1st week.
From today's support chat:
Thank you for the time and patience, I would like to inform you that as I have checked. The 8.8.1 would be coming next month. Please do not worry. I would request you to wait till that time and then we will be surely helping you with the same.
They first offered to start a third online login session to troubleshoot my computer. I have no more patience with Norton's support.
No. I kept waiting for them to call me back for additional telephone support with what they called 'higher level team members'. When they didn't call back twice ('Please wait another 24 to 48 hours for a call....) they told me about the release. Maybe they were throwing me a bone to try to get rid of me.
The did tell me to do a full scan to make sure I was protected and I reminded them that the scanning never stopped and that was one of the main reasons I was waiting for tech support.
Overall, I'm very dissatisfied with Norton.
I am also running a Windows 10 laptop and Norton 360 works great for every aspect of the program. They blew it for Macs with this release.
Is there any timeframe for the release of 8.8.1?
Yet they are dumb enough not to say anything in the forums. The forums section is pretty much dead, probably because of a budget cut? Most of the people facing issues will look at the forums, not everyone will connect to Norton support as they won't fix bugs but a patch will
