Norton through Comcast/Infinity Not Working

Several days (weeks?) ago, an "X" appeared on the Norton icon at the far right bottom of my screen.  When I click on the icon, it tells me:  "Internal Error--We were unable to verify your subscription due to an internal error.  Contact Support for assistance."  The first suggestion was to restart.  That didn't work.  I next uninstalled the program and from the Comcast/Infinity site tried to reinstall the program.  It got to the point where it wanted me to input the "partner code" that I was supposed to have gotten from my ISP.  Comcast didn't provide that and I cannot find anywhere on the Comcast site where "partner code" is mentioned.  So, I think I have a partially installed Norton Security Suite.  The icon is back--even without completing the installation with the partner code--but it still has the "X" and I'm still getting the same error message.  I don't know whether I'm protected anymore or not, and I certainly can't perform a back-up, which is what I started to do in the first place.  I will greatly appreciate a solution to this problem.
