Norton tries to open with OpenOffice writer

i am using windows 8, and recently when i try to open areas such as help, performance, support... Norton tries to open OpenOffice writer,,,, i have been online with live chat, and they went remote, but failed to help. just said contact my provider of Open office...any help would be appreciated,,, i dont go into these areas much at all.. but like to know they at least work

Hi roxane,

 

Since you are having W8, see if the link below helps and make the appropriate changes. (probably try reverting to default settings and choose the file types you want to open with OpenOffice).

thanks for that,, followed your link, then to make changes,, the only problem was, that when i got into the area it doesnt say Norton lolol... only .jpeg type names... and as i did not know what the extension was i needed. was abit stuck for awhile..but then read the answer from Quads.. and followed his link, and saw the letters. htm & html.   went back to the app area, found the html. changed it  back ,,, and great stuff working again.....
