Mac OSX 10.6.1/MacPro 2x3 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xenon. (Norton subscription expires 8.7.10). At startup two copies of the Symentec logo appear on the upper panel and I get the following message: "Norton Quick Menu could not finish initializing. Make sure that Norton Quick Menu has not been launched multiple times. " Well how do I do that "make sure" stuff? I run Live Update and even after an immediate restart I do not update AV, even though the update summary mentions AV 11.0.3 (twice). At present here are the versions that are running:
Live Update: 5.1.0
Anti-Virus: 11.0.2
Confidential: 1.2.2
Firewall: 4.0.1
Am I in a nasty circle of twinning because AV is still 11.0.2 and then not updating because of twinning?
And here is another clue, the following message:
"System extension cannot be used.
The system extension "/Library/Application Support/Symantec/AntiVirus/NortonAutoProtect.bundle/Contents/Resources/SymAPComm.kext" was installed improperly and cannot be used. Please try reinstalling it, or contact the products vendor for an update."
Needless to say, everything was working properly under OSX 10.5.x
