Subject summed it up. I am trying to remove norton from this laptop as it has expired and I want to use different software. This is on Vista. When I uninstall either through the add/remove program area or use the removal tool, it starts the process then part way through the computer just automatically shuts down. Anyone help me get this fully uninstalled?

I have tried the Removal Tool. Just tried it again, I get the same result. After the uninstall begins, eventually the computer just logs off and reboots on its own and norton is still there.
Any other suggestions?
I am not certain what is causing the reboot. I don't think it is necessarily anything Norton related. I also get a reboot when I try to run msconfig to see what is booting up. When I launch that it goes into an automatic reboot as well.
I am not experienced with Vista, is this vista spazzing out for some reason?

I did also try safe mode and it was still doing the same thing. I did finally get it off though, I went to an earlier restore point for the system when it was more stable and then ran the removal tool and it worked great. Thanks for the replies, can call this one done :D
