Norton Utilites Activation Error

Why do I always get this error when trying to activate Norton Utilities?

Why is TechSupport incapable of solving such problems?

Noton Utilities is only installed on one PC.

In no way have I ever violated the licensing terms of this product.

have you tried my.norton.com/setup. Make sure you are entering license information for the specific product you are using. License information for one Norton product is not interchangeable with another Norton product. For example, you cannot use the product key for your Norton protection to activate Norton Utilities Premium or Norton Utilities Ultimate. You can find the product key for Norton Utilities Premium or Norton Utilities Ultimate in the My Subscription page of your account.

If you still see a message indicating incorrect or invalid licensing information, verify that you typed the license information exactly as shown. Some characters (such as the number 0 and the letter O) can look very similar. Try double-checking the following: the letters O, l (lower-case l), I (capital I); and the numbers 0 (zero) and 1 (one).

I got the page to load but when I enter the key it just redirects me back to the same download page with the same key I originally had, which accomplishes nothing.

When using the Setup web page, you enter the product key which then does take you to a download page for the product that can be activated by that key. Allow the download and then install from that download. This ensures you are getting the correct product, that should already be activated.

As a test. I enabled auto-renewal within my Norton account. Then downloaded NUP from there. Closed my browser and executed the installer. It allowed me to copy the 25 character key BEFORE running the installer to install. I made a note of it for further use. When installing NUP, it DID NOT ask for me to copy/paste the product key at any point. Within the settings for NUP, neither do I see anywhere to do so. I DO see where you can changes the PSN under help. The PSN is NOT a 25 character installation key as it is ONLY 12 characters, and is missing the last sequence. If you haven't add the 25 character key there. As I stated, I was NOT asked to input my product 25 character key at any time during or after installation. These are my observations.

As I said, entering the key here redirects to the same download page with the same activation key that I input.

Victor, here are the instructions for adding a screenshot to your posts:This is the URL you should be going to add the product key: https://my.norton.com/home/setup

It was a clean fresh installation of Windows on the same hardware with a fresh download of NUP.  I copied the key from the dowload page.

"my.norton.com/setup" does not work, see attached screenshot.

I got the page to load but when I enter the key it just redirects me back to the same download page with the same key I originally had, which accomplishes nothing.

You still have not confirmed whether you tried entering your product key at   my.norton.com/setup.   Be sure you are using the key you find in your Norton Account under the Norton Utilities Premium subscription. Not the 360 key.

Did you reinstall Windows via restoring the clone backup or doing a clean install? The clone restore will see NUP as already being installed if it was installed when you performed the clone backup.

Renewal is active.  Norton Utilities Premium included in 360.

This issue appeared previously when I cloned my drive.  No one in Tech support could solve it using remote access, etc.  Finally after a long period someone called to tell me that the bug had been fixed.  It worked.  Then when I reinstalled Windows and all my apps, the same error message reappeared with NUP.  Obviously the fix was not permanent.  No one else besides me gets this error?  I do not believe the issue is on my end.

This is not a big problem for me, because I have other apps that do the same things, but I wanted to make sure that others and Norton were aware of this ongoing issue.

Did you try the  my.norton.com/setup?

What version of Norton Utilities are you trying to activate? If you are trying to activate the older NU 16, that has been discontinued and it appears the activation servers have been taken down.

Are you trying to activate the Norton Utilities Premium, NUP, that comes as a bonus with your 360 subscription? If so, you need to be sure that you have the Automatic Renewal enabled for your 360, or you are not eligible for the free NUP subscription.

I did as suggested and continue to get the same error message. It should be possible for someone in this organization to issue a new activation code, preferrably one that actually works. The error started originally when I cloned my HDD in order to make a backup. This does not violate the licensing terms, but reveals an error in the product activation design that should be resolved. My family household consists of one person. I have two computers. Each license is supposedly valid for multiple installations. I have a subscription for 5 licenses of the product of which only one instance on one device is using NU. I have not changed hardware. I still have the same motherboard, etc. This is clearly a design flaw that should be corrected, not a user error.

You can also try entering the product key here..    https://my.norton.com/home/setup  That has helped me when I had a similar error.

Hello Victor. Edited - Refer to this Norton article for a possible explanation. Recheck the product key you are installing for accuracy and retry. That is the most common issue associated with error 6.
