Norton Utilities 14.0 has stopped working when running CLEAN YOUR REGISTRY function

A prior thread with this same issue has been closed so I’m opening a new thread.  The suggested solution did not work.  Norton Utilities 14.0 stops working immediately after running CLEAN YOUR REGISTRY function.  All other Utility features work normally.  The feature will scan and identify problems then returns the message Norton Utilities 14.0 has stopped working. 

 

I ran CLEAN YOUR DISKS for Windows, Browsers, and Plugins without issue.  I also rebooted in Safe Mode.  Norton Utilities 14.0 Smart Update confirms all updates are current.  All Windows updates are current.

 

I am running 64-bit Windows 7 Professional edition SP1, 8G RAM, Intel Core 2 Quad Q9300 Processor  

Norton Internet Security version 21.1.0.18.    Norton Utility version 14.5.0.120. 

 

The utility has worked well for over a year, but recently began having this issue about a week ago.   No software programs have been added or removed.   I have also followed the instructions in http://us.norton.com/support/kb/web_view.jsp?wv_type=public_web&docurl=20090407170301EN&ln=en_US, with no luck.   Does anyone know the solution for this problem?  Thanks in advance
