Norton Utilities 16 deletes Windows 7 search index

After Norton Utilities 16 runs my Windows 7 system index locations are all deleted.  This prevents searches in Outlook from working, for example.  I'm pretty certain it is caused by either the Registry Scan or the Privacy Scan.  My system index location is the default C:\ProgramData\Microsoft.  How can I prevent NU from trashing my system search indexes?

Hey Mark,

This is most likely due to Privacy scan in Norton Utiltiies. The way I suggest you isolate the issue is run one component of the prviacy scan at a time to see which scan is deleting Outlook file locations.

Go to the Privacy section and do the following:

1. Run a windows Privacy clean by going to Privacy tab > Windows > pressing 'Clean Windows' button

2. Check if outlook is required to re-index. If it does, then thats the scan that is deleting the index file in Outlook. Please let me know which scan it is being deleted in.

3. Repeat for browsers and plugins by going to Privacy tab > [Scan name]> pressing 'Clean [scan Name]' button

Hi, I need tips and pointers too boost my computers trust level from 51% to >90%

Help please? :smileysad:
