Norton Utilities 16 Erases Firefox Settings

I found a post that explained how to fix Norton Utilities 15 from whacking Firefox 13 toolbar settings but it doesn't jive with NU16 and FF17. How does one get NU16 to leave FF17's settings alone? This should be the DEFAULT action.

Sorry, Charlie. No such option on screen. See attached screen shot.

Not Charlie.

I don't have NU16, so can't help you further.

Hi RealGomer,

To keep the Firefox 17 Toolbars, please follow the steps below.

Step 1: Please ensure that the Firefox 17 Toolbars set as you wish.

Step 2: Modify "Clear Your Browsing History"settings

1. Launch "Norton Utilities 16"
2. Select "Privacy" > "Clear Your Browsing History"
3. Highlight "Firefox Browser"
4. Uncheck "Cache, History and Address Bar"
5. Click "Save Choices"
6. Click "Clean Browsers" to see if the problem persists.

Best Regards,
Temperance

Thank you, Temperance.

Why on earth did the goofball programmers include the toolbars as part of the wipe out? That sounds like lazy a** programming.

Hey RealGomer,

As you may or may not know, toolbars can also be a breach of privacy because of the information that they store. The reason this was done by default under Privacy scan was to ensure that privacy was maintained on the customer's PC and that also includes settingss stored on browsers.

Regards,

Skreddy.
