Does the clean-up program in the latest version of Norton Utilities have the ability to view a list of cookies, and to delete a single cookie or selected individual cookies? If so, does this work for both Internet Explorer and Firefox?
In Firefox (version 3.5.5), you can clear cookies by going to Tools, then to Options; select Privacy, then Cookies and then Show Cookies, or “Keep until” (choose appropriate option from drop-down menu).
mdturner, thanks. You answered my basic question, which is whether the cleanup in Norton Utilities 14.5 has this function. It doesn't, so that's one more function that has been lost. The reason I asked is that my Systemworks subscription is expiring, and I'm trying to decide whether to replace it with Norton AntiVirus plus Norton Utilities. I guess I will just get the AntiVirus, and give up on the Utilities.
I know I could keep Systemworks, at least for a while, and just renew the subscription. But I'd like to get AntiVirus 2010, and I'm going to have to lose Systemworks at some point. I might as well bite the bullet now.
Specifically with regard to being able to delete individual cookies, the Browsing History in IE is not the answer. I have over 2,800 cookies, but for some reason IE's View Files only finds 115 of them. Obviously Norton Utilities is not the answer either, so I will have to look elsewhere for a cookie manager.
Yaso_Kuuhl, Show Cookies in Firefox looks more promising than the IE function. Thanks for that information.
Hi Bob
I believe since you still have a valid license for System Works, if it is the Standard or the Pro version, then you can upgrade the NAV part to 2010 till your sub runs out. Check it out under the upgrade center.

Hi BobS,
There might be a way to accomplish what you desire with Norton Utilities after all. Question for you. Do you want to be able to selectively keep individual cookies each time you do a clean operation or do you want it to keep the same selected cookies each time?
Check out this option. Select the option to Clean Disks as I'm sure you done before. Then select the browser option at the top. Below I show an image of this. Note that it will take a while before the forum moderator validates the image so that you can view it.
On this screen right above the Reports button on the bottom left you will see an option that says Select Cookies To Keep. Click on this and you will see your entire list of cookies. From that screen you can select cookies to KEEP and it remembers this setting for subsequent clean operations.
NOTE that if you want to change this each time you do a clean it will be quite cumbersome.
Please let me know if this offers what you are looking for.

AllenM, thanks for the suggestion. I knew about the “Select Cookies to Keep” option, but that’s more or less the opposite of what I was looking for. In the version of Norton Utilities that I have, you can select one specific cookie, or a few specific cookies, from the list, and delete just those specific cookies, without doing a general “clean” operation. It’s just like deleting a file from a folder in Windows. I have had to do this a few times when I was having a problem with a particular web site. I suppose I could select to keep all but the one cookie I want to delete, then do a clean. But that seems cumbersome indeed.
Hi BobS,
In case you were not aware of it, this cookie to keep screen can also select ALL for you. Then you could find the ones you wanted to remove and do the clean. Just a suggestion.
To select all, simply right click on the Select Cookies to Keep screen and click on Select All. This will select all cookies without you having to do them manually and then you can more easily uncheck the ones you want to get rid of.
Sorry I did not think of including this in my original post.

Follow-up / update by OP:
I ended up doing what floplot suggested (if I understand him correctly). I upgraded NAV from 2009 to 2010, and just left the rest of SystemWorks in place. Apparently the subscription that was expiring was just for NAV. All the SystemWorks programs, as well as the new NAV, seem to be working fine. Some day I know I will have to give up SystemWorks, but for now this is fine.
