I keep getting prompted by Norton to try Norton Utilities Ultimate, however, according to a Norton disclaimer, Norton Utilities Ultimate will not work with any SSD and my System Disk is an SSD. Is this disclaimer true and if so why won’t it work with SSDs?
NUU will work on a system with an SSD. My Laptop has an SSD and the product works fine. The only thing it does not do is some disk maintenance such as defragmentation.

I would say it does. I just did a clean the other day and got no errors from it running on my SSD. Also checked the space saved in Windows explorer, and the space had been freed.

is there anyone at Norton who could give me a definitive answer about this? I don’t want to buy NUU and then find out I wasted the money because it won’t work with an SSD system drive. Also, what reason could there be for it not to work with an SSD?

You can always purchase NUU and you have 60 days to request a refund if your testing does not give you what you want/expect.

I thought about trying Norton’s free trial of NUU but, as their own website states that it won’t work with SSDs, I was a bit reluctant to try it in case it messed up my PC. If NUU does work with and SSD why doesn’t Norton say so?

I’m afraid your list of things the NUU will do doesn’t include a statement from Norton stating that NUU will work with an SSD. The ‘official’ Norton website states that NUU will not work with SSD disks.

den kan det samme på en ssd som på en disk drev

The Reply:
Norton Utilities Ultimate is not compatible with SSD system disks. The software is designed for traditional hard drives and will not function correctly on an SSD. This limitation is explicitly stated in the product’s system requirements.
- Norton Utilities Ultimate System Requirements: The software requires a non-SSD hard drive for installation and operation. This is a fundamental requirement, and attempting to install or use it on an SSD will likely result in errors or malfunctions.
I then asked: Will Norton include SSD disks in Norton Utilities Ultimate in future?
The Reply:
Norton Utilities Ultimate currently does not support SSD disks; its disk optimization features are designed for traditional hard drives. The software offers tools to clean and optimize your Windows PC, but these features are not compatible with solid-state drives. Future inclusion of SSD support is not mentioned in the provided documentation.
So, it looks like SSDs will never be able to use NUU. Perhaps Norton could detect whether a PC has a SSD system disk before continually prompting its owner to buy NUU.

I don’t want to wreck my PC just by trying it out. I think Norton should upgrade NUU to work with SSDs, even if it is only a subset of its original functions.

That is basically what happens already if you install NUU on an SSD system. As I noted above, I have it installed on my system with an SSD. Only the hard drive maintenance, such as defrag, are unavailable. All the other features still work, including cleaning cache files, temp files, and others from the SSD hard drive.
