OS XP.
Problem started when I updated unrelated sw. I tried to undo this update by a system restore to an earlier time. Received 'System restore unsuccessful'. Did some research, and to do a successful restore I had to disable 'protect product' in Norton. I did. Then did a SR in normal mode, 'unsuccessful' again. Sooo.. I wanted to go back into Norton to restore the 'protect product' but Norton is nowhere to be found!
I suspect I will have to re-install it, and I guess I will have to do that by re-downloading it. And thata brings me to my next question. I bought NIS2009 for 3 computers of which the mentioned laptop is one, I also installed it on a laptop that broke down within 10 days. I assume that the one remaining download is all I have and if I need an other download I'll have to purchase an other key?
