Norton 22.25 Maintenance Update

Norton Community announcements for the Version 22 branch have become less frequent. While the last major “sticky” announcement many users see is for 22.24.8.36, the legacy branch has indeed moved forward.

The 22.25.x Update Status As of early 2026, the current maintenance build for the legacy branch is Version 22.25.3.5.

  • Version 22.25: This version (specifically builds like 22.25.3.5) was released in late 2025. It focused on backend security hardening and compatibility fixes for legacy Windows systems (XP, 7, 8, and 8.1).

  • Version 22.26: While the modern Norton versions for Windows 10/11 have jumped to versions 25 and 26, the legacy branch continues to climb steadily. Version 22.26 is the next logical step in this maintenance cycle.

  • Why no announcement? Because the 22.x branch is officially in Maintenance Mode, Norton typically does not create a new dedicated “Announcements” thread for every minor build change. Instead, these are pushed silently through LiveUpdate to ensure the older engine remains compatible with the latest virus definitions and OS patches.
