Norton VPN blocks Voicemails

Does anyone else have this problem? I have a galaxy S10 cell phone.  When I have Secure VPN enabled, I cannot receive voicemails.  When Secure VPN is off, I have no problem receiving voicemails.

Thanks for that update. It is still puzzling to me that a VPN would affect voicemail. But if another VPN does the same ........

As for split tunnelling, the PC version of the standalone Norton Secure VPN recently added Split Tunnelling, so it may be on the horizon for the mobile products.

I subscribe to a VPN service and tried theirs.  Had the same problem. Talked to their help desk and was told to try Split Tunneling and exclude phone and voice mail.  It fixed my problem.  Contacted Norton support and was told that “I am sorry to inform you that split tunneling is not available in Norton 360 mobile app.”

What Android version is on your device?

What exactly happens when you try to access your voicemail? Are you able to access the system and you just cannot retrieve a message, or can you not get connected to the system at all.

Please uninstall the standalone VPN again and restart your device. Then uninstall your 360 app and restart the device. Reinstall 360 and test again. If you still see the same behaviour, please send logs to Norton.

Open the 360 app and tap the three bars at the top left. Tap on Settings > General, and scroll down to the Logging section. Turn on Enable Debug Log. Then continue using your device until your issue happens again. Check your voicemail with and without the VPN feature active. After the issue has happened, go back to the Debug Log settings and then tap on Send Error Report with log files. In your submission please include "forum 'your username' " in the Case ID section of the report. Also include a link to this thread. You can turn off logging when you have sent the logs.

If you do send logs, please let me know and I'll notify my contacts to look for them.

I have Visual Voicemail on my cell phone and can only receive voicemails if Mobile Data is on.

Of course if Mobile Data is on then you do not need the VPN on.

Yes, I had the stand-alone app, uninstalled it, and ensured VPN was on via the Norton 360 app. Did not receive voicemail. Turned off the VPN on Norton 360 and then I received voicemail.

I then reinstalled the stand-alone VPN app, turned on the VPN on the app and ensured VPN was off on the 360 app. Did not receive voicemail. Turned off VPN on the app and received voicemail.

I then did a Force Stop on Norton 360 app and ran the test. No problem, received voice mail.

Are you using the standalone Norton Secure VPN app, or the VPN feature in the new 360 Android app?

If you have both the 360 and standalone VPN apps installed, uninstall the standalone app as it could be causing conflicts. Then test for your voicemail again.

I access my voice mails via the Voicemail app on my cell phone, regular cell service.  Before I found the problem, I contacted Verizon and informed them that I was not receiving voicemails, they walk me through and reset my voicemail, but that was not the problem

This sounds odd as a VPN should not be affecting cell communications in any way.

How are you accessing your voice mail? Are you using some network based phone service or regular cell service?
