Norton VPN DOES NOT work after windows 11 upgrade

I have tried unsuccessfully for over two months to connect with Norton VPN. I am using Norton 360. This problem appeared after I upgraded to Windows 11. From reading through the messages on this forum many other users have the same issues.

When I attempt to connect with Secure VPN, I receive the message “Trying to connect”. This message is displayed for approx 2 mins - before the message dissapears and a message “Your connection is unconnected” is displayed

Norton should help us, we pay the subscription every year and is not cheape. NORTON PLEASE HELP US.

I've done that is not working either.

I have the same problem, I've done that, even unistalling and installing Norton 360 again, use Auto select. I have no problem to connect VPN with my two Android cell phones. There isn't any port block at the WiFi router neither my ISP block any port. The error that appear is #809 which seems is that port #500 is block but again is NOT blocked at the WiFi neither at Windows 11 ( I don't have a clue on how to block a port on Windows either) I think is Norton 360 issue with Windows 11 either blocking the port itself or some other issues. I kindley ask if some one has a solution or ask Windows Support level 2 to address the problem. Thanks.

I have the same problem. In my case error 809 appears. I tried everything unistalling and installing again Norton 360, tried Autozone. I contacted Norton support they told me that my ISP blocks port #500. The ISP checked and is not blocked, further VPN is working very well at my two Android cell phones with the same ISP WiFi. Now I contacted again Norton support and they'll elevate to level 2. My guess is that Norton360 itself is the one that is blocking the port, so I hope Norton address the problem soon. If any one has more info I'd greatfuly. Norton support was very kind each time that I contacted them.

I tried changing from auto, also deleted all the minitools, and then uninstalled the program and re-installed it. But, nothing worked. I will now use another VPN, it seems Norton have lost the plot on this problem. By the way another VPN I use switches off my wireless when it starts since updating to Windows 11.

I'm a newby so go easy.

I can't start the VPN program that came with my purchase of Norton 260 Deluxe. I get a message 'there's a fault, try again later'. I ddid try, and got the same message. I did try two of the above suggestion, deleteing the miniports. disabling the start auto function, I then used the tool and unistalled and reinstalled to Norton 360 including the VPN. But it till doesn't work. Has anyone got a clue how to fix this problem. You may have guessed I'm using the latest version of Windows 11.

Did you try changing your VPN region from Auto to a specific country?

Try changing your VPN settings.

Click on the down arrow beside "Turn On" and click "Settings".
You should see "VPN" page.
Click "Auto VPN". IF the "Auto VPN" button is "ON" then turn it "OFF".
Go back to "Secure VPN" and click "Turn On".
Should see "connecting" under "Secure VPN", then "Your connection is protected", along with the NORTON notification window "Connection is secured" and under that "Your data is now protected on this network".

It worked for me!
You can use "https://whatismyipaddress.com/" before and after fix to see the changes in your IP Address.

After that reboot PC/Laptop.

Let us know how it goes but i assure you this will solve the issues as it did for me 2 times.

I can not disconnect the VPN on my mac, I tried in the app and can not I tried in preferences and it just reconnects again, what can I do please!

Try changing your VPN virtual location.  Click on the down arrow beside Turn On for the VPN feature and click on VPN region. Scroll down to find your country listed, or choose another if your work does not mind you appearing to be somewhere else.

Hi there,

Thank you for your advice regarding the use of the Norton Removal and Reinstall Tool.  As you suggested I used the tool and reinstalled Norton 360 but unfortunately this has failed to resolve the issue.  When I try to connect with secure VPN I receive the message "Connecting".  This message remains for a few  minutes untiI I recieve a dialog with the message "Norton has experienced a connection failure".

This ability to connect with the VPN is critical to my work and I will need a solution to this problem.

Please can you investigate this further

Regards,

Trevor

Windows version upgrades, ie from 10 to 11, have been known to mess with program installations. Norton has not been immune to this issue. I would be a good idea to reinstall your Norton to see if that clears things up. You can use the Norton Removal and Reinstall Tool from   www.norton.com/nrnr . Be sure you use a Windows admin user account when doing this.
