2. Applies to: Windows

3. What are the changes in this release?

  • User-facing changes/updates:
    • Manual IP Refresh: A new option in Norton VPN that allows you to refresh your public IP address with a single click while staying connected to the same VPN location. This helps resolve IP-related issues such as streaming errors, blocked sites, or repeated CAPTCHA challenges without needing to disconnect and reconnect.
    • How to Use this new feature:
      1. Open and connect to the VPN
      • a) Open Norton VPN on your Windows device.
      • b) Choose your preferred VPN location/region .
      • c) Click Connect and wait until the status shows Connected .
      1. Find the Manual IP Refresh button
      • a) While connected, look next to the Disconnect button.
    • b) Click the refresh-style icon (circular arrow ) – this is the Manual IP Refresh control.
      1. Confirm Kill Switch (if prompted)
      • a) If you see a prompt to turn on Kill Switch, click the link “Go to settings” to enable it, then go back to main screen and click the Manual IP refresh icon again.
      • b) If you do not want to try the Manual IP Refresh, click “Go Back”.
      • c) If you wish to refresh the IP without enabling the Kill Switch, click “Continue to refresh IP”.
      1. Get your new IP and retry the site.
      • a) Wait for the short “Obtaining new IP” message to finish.
      • b) Once connected again, your IP address is refreshed (same location, new IP).
      • c) Go back to your website/app and refresh or retry.
      1. Please Note:
      • a) The Manual IP refresh button only appears when the VPN is connected and not paused. If you pause or disconnect the VPN, the Manual IP Refresh icon disappears; reconnect the VPN first to see and use it.
      1. What’s the purpose of this feature?
      • a) Good for streaming issues, sites not loading, and repeated CAPTCHA.
      • b) It does not change your chosen country/region; it only refreshes the IP inside the same location.
      1. How often to use it:
      • a) You can repeat the Manual IP Refresh if needed, but in smaller locations with fewer servers, you may rotate between a limited set of IPs.
    • Norton VPN browser Extension update: We are bringing the same new feature(Manual IP refresh) to the Norton VPN browser extension as well in our upcoming release. There is no specific ETA on the extension update release timeline as of now. Therefore, please look out for our future communication on this extension update notification.
  • Background improvements to performance and stability.
  • Minor bug fixes and other small enhancements.
