Norton Vs 6 Identity Safe not working on Chrome

Hello,

For some reason, about two days ago Norton Identity Safe for Google Chrome stopped working.  When I click the icon on the top right, nothing happens.  Its like the button is dead.  It seems to work fine on Firefox so I'm not sure why it isn't working on Google Chrome.  In the past week I haven't changed any settings, or added any different extensions to the browser so it cannot be those conflicting.  I have tried restarting the computer and that doesn't work, either.  Google Chrome is up to date (18.0.1025.142).

System & Norton details:

Norton360 - version 6.1.2.10

Windows 7, x64.

Ideas?

Hi Chris,

Welcome to Norton Community.

This issue started happening two days ago because only two days back that is on 29th March Google released the "Google Chrome 18.0.1025.142" Version.

I am not working with the id safe team, so i am not sure, but i think the compatiblity update for this version might not be availble right now, that is why it is graded out and it will be working again once your Norton 360 v6 has that update which i guess will be released very soon.

Ravi

Also,  you can try doing a "Live Update" on your Norton 360 v 6 until it says " Your Norton Product has the latest updates "  and then restart the computer and check . If the update has been already released, your google chrome id safe extension will get enabled again.

Hi Ravi,

I have the same version of Chrome (18.0.1025.142 m) and the Norton Toolbar is working as normal for me.

Dave.

Hi Dave,

As i said,  I am not with the "Id safe dept" and so I am not sure if the id safe update for that version of chrome has already been released. Since it's working for you, looks like it is!

Chris,

You can try doing "Live updates" until all updates are installed, it should work!

Hi  Chris101,

Can you try following options,

1. Norton Toolbar will be loaded only when you visit/navigate/open any webpage e.g.. Browse to www.google.com/gmail.com and check toolbar appears with little green icon at right top corner or not.

2.Type " chrome://extensions/ " in address bar and check Norton Identity Protection "enabled" with tickmark, If it was disabled click on  check box  with tick mark

3. If you still face the problem, open  chrome://extensions/  click on remove for Norton Identity Protection

4. Follow below steps to add Norton Identity Protection plugin into chrome

1.Open N360 V6 engine folder ( e.g.C:\Program Files\Norton360\Engine\<6.x.x.x>) X is the product version.

2.Go to "exts" folder and copy the chrome.crx file to  any other location

3. Open that file with WinRAR or 7Zip and extract all the contents to any folder.

4.Open Chrome and type chrome://settings/extensions in address bar

5 select  "Developer mode" using check mark  and click on "load unpacked extension"

6.Browse to the folder where you have extracted all the contents and Click OK

7.Now you will have Norton identity protection in chrome.

Hope this helps

Thanks,

Senthil

Thanks for the help everyone.  It seems to be working again.  I don't know what happened, but I did another update on Norton and restarted the computer then it worked fine.  Thanks.
