I am in Canada, and if I set the county selection to Auto, I often get connected through Seattle Washington. You can manually choose the country you wish to be virtually located. You can even choose the country you live in, but it will show you are in a different location in that country.
Regarding the 'Unsecured Network' messages. It depends where you are connecting to the internet. If you are connecting to wifi hotspots, then the message may apply. But users have seen that message when connecting to their home wifi networks, even though the home router is properly secured. It is a semantics issue. I have suggested the wording be changed to something like 'Network unprotected by Norton Wifi Privacy'.
Thank You for the reply. I thought it may be that, but Canada; I had a concern with that. I am in Michigan so I guess it was possible for a first time logon.
The last two weeks I have been getting "Unsecured Network Visits" Try WiFi Privacy messages on my laptops and cell phones. That made me take action rather than wait.
I will know what to expect when I update my phone.
The Yahoo message is to be expected, and is really a good thing. What is happening is that yahoo is used to you signing in from your home location. When you enable Norton Wifi Privacy, NWP, your computer appears to be in a different location, and maybe even a different country. Yahoo is just letting you know that someone from a different location than what is expected, is trying to use your Yahoo account. You need to follow the directions in the message to verify that this is still you.
I see the same thing with my Gmail accounts when I first started using NWP.
