Norton Zone crashes/freezes on shutdown

Since I installed the Norton Zone desktop application for my Windows 7 SP1 64-bit machine (running the latest version of NIS 2014), Norton Zone sometimes hangs or crashes when I shut down the computer. The error only occurs when I shut down the computer, and NOT every time. It seems to happen on random shutdowns. However, I always get this message when the problem crops up:

How long have you had the Zone client installed? ie Have you had it installed long enough that you may have had the version get updated?

How long have you seen this problem?

It could be a Windows update that could have messed things up.

I installed it around mid-August of this year. I think the problem started then, but it happened on random shutdowns, and it occurred to me only yesterday that NZ = Norton Zone...It was so obvious I missed the connection :-)

Nothing is listed under problem reports.

Does the Norton Zone client update itself automatically?

Yes the Zone client has a LiveUpdate feature that does automatically update the client.

I guess I have to suggest the remove and reinstall of the Zone client to see if that straightens things out. It will not affect your files stored online.

Hi Yaso_Kuuhl,

Are you still experience issues after an uninstall and reinstall?

I'll give reinstallation a try in a couple of hours. Thanks for your suggestions - I was thinking that I would probably have to go the reinstallation route ;-)

Okay, I've reinstalled Norton Zone (I rebooted the computer after deinstallation). Now I'll have to wait and monitor the shutdowns for two weeks or so before I can say for sure that the problem has been resolved :-) If an NZ.exe error pops up again, then I'll probably only be able to access the web/browser version of Norton Zone. Will post back here with the final results.

Reinstallation seems to have solved the issue :-) Thank you very much for your time, patience and help! :smileyvery-happy:

Always great to hear good news.
