Norton360 Won't Recognize A Backup Exists

I'm running Norton 360 w/ Windows Vista.   My computer recently needed to be formatted, so I backed everything up to an external hard drive.     however, now when I open up Norton 360 (which is currently the 60 day trial version, if that's the problem), and I tell it to search for available backups.  It will not locate my external, and recognize there is a back up on the external.  my only options, are the Online Storage, and the 2nd hard drive inside my PC.  however if i go in through my computer, I can see the N360Backup folder, and all the files inside the folders.

Any suggestions?

You can try the Portable Restore tool mentioned by Joel_Michel (Symantec Employee) in the following thread to restore the files from the external drive:
