I’ve been using Norton products since Peter Norton introduced them in the early '80s, starting with Norton Utilities. Over the years, after Symantec’s takeover, there have been mis-steps within the line; bloatware or outrageous renewal costs, mostly. Sometimes I stayed, buying a “new” version rather than bending to the 4x more expensive auto-renew. Sometimes I left. Nothing though, is going to make me stay now. Norton has become all about marketing. I get bombarded with ads for upgraded versions of products I already own, or whiz-bang lies about compromised networks and out-of-date drivers (which aren’t). I’ve already turned off auto-renewal, and I’ll continue to use the products (360 & Utilities Ultimate) until Symantec starts hounding me about my approaching expiration.
Norton/Symantec - you’ve become your own worst enemy.
