I have just chatted to an agent on Nortons Support. The agent informed me that AdChoices is legitimate software, and not a browser infection. He supported his argument by referring to Wikipedia. I have researched the problem and found, from several sources that AdChoices is not legitimate software, that it causes security breaches when other software hijacks it, and that it has been a notorious infection that has been difficult to remove from browsers, since 2010 at least. The agent also assured me that a subsequent problem that developed on my system could not be addressed by Nortons, and referred me to Microsoft to solve the problem. If the problem was caused by a virus that Nortons neither detected, addressed, or fixed, is the system problem not a consequential effect of the failure of Nortons to work for my protection?
