Nortons Power Erase

Hello all,

Two things here starting with the first problem (not directly related to Norton's Power Erase)

My computer's C: drive disk space was bellow 100mb (normally around 15gb of free space). I had not installed anything and do not save anything to this drive. I thought it was a little strange but figured windows was trying to install updates (had 32 waiting). So I figured I would help it out and uninstall some programs I don't really use anymore (about 10gb worth). After uninstalling I checked my computer and it said ±10gb of free space. I then restarted my computer and it said I had about 40mb of free space. I literally only restarted my computer and lost about 10gb of space.

This does not seem right so I started running scans and they came up with nothing so I decided to use Nortons power erase as a last hope. Started running it three times and it keep crashing after about one minute. now it is telling me I need to contact Nortons. The help page it brings me to say to uninstall and reinstall (link below). I do not want to do this since after restarting last time all of the free space I gained disappeared. If this happens I will not be able to reinstall. Any one have any ideas?

I am running Windows 8.1. In the updates waiting to install it does not say anything about windows 10 (I read this one can take up a lot of space). I also don't see how windows 10 could down load 10gb of data in roughly 1 minute on a 6mb internet connection (but hey who knows. windows is really pushing 10 on us).

Thanks for any help you can provide,

Steven
