Nortton 360 upgrade

I am currently running Norton 360 version 4.2.0.12. My subscription expires in two weeks. I just purchased Norton 360 version 4.0. Can I install over the over the already installed version or should I remove the installed version and install the version I just purchased?

Hello herbet

Welcome to the Norton Users Discussion Forum

All you have to do is enter the new key the day before it is about to expire since you already have the latest version installed. Just make sure that it is the same type of N360 version 4.2. By that I mean if you have the standard version now, then the new one you bought should be the same standard version. If you have changed types, then you will have to uninstall the product first..

Please come back and let us know how you made out. Thanks

Thank you for your prompt response! One more question, should I disable the installed version prior to installing the newly purchased version or just let the installed version run during the new installation? Thanks again. I will let you know the outcome in about two weeks.

Hello herbet

If your subscription is running out in 2 weeks and you want to continue using the program on the same computer, there is absolutely nothing to install. All you have to do on the day before it expires, is put in the new key. You are not installing anything. You do not have to disable the program. Where it says how many days are remaining, there is probably a space there where you can enter a new key. That is all you have to do is enter a new key to keep your program activated. But please do this just before the subscription is going to expire.

Thank you! I was able to locate the screen you are referring to my going to:  "My Account > Renew Subscription". where I can enter a new product key.

Hello herbet

I'm glad you found the right location to enter the key, but please don't do it until like the day before it is supposed to expire or else you will lose the remaining time on your subcription and also don't wait till it ends because then the product will stop working.

Please come back and let us know when you are successful in activating your account with the new key. Don't know if you will still be able to post back into this thread  by the time your subscription will be ready for the new key.

Thank you. I will wait until the day before expiration to enter the new product key. You have been very helpful. I will post after I have completed the procedure.

Entered new product key. Upgrade was succesfull! Thanks for the help!!

How do you find the distinction in the installed product among Standard, Premier, Netbook?  Where I am, two computers have a two year old Norton 360 on Windows Vista, and one computer has a fairly new installation of Norton 360 on Windows 7.  There is no documentation saying anything about Standard or Premier (assuming that neither comptuter would have the Netbook edition since no computers here are 'netbook').?

Hello herbet

We're glad that you were able to upgrade your product successfully. If you consider your question to be answered, can you please mark the post which gave you the solution. Doing that will show that the thread has been solved and others will find the solution quickly when doing a search. Thanks

Hello g_cafe_c

The only distinction between the premier and the standard N360 versions is the amount of backup space available.

You can compare the N360 products on this page.

Hope you will find this helpful. Thanks

Done. Thanks!

How do I know which one we have here?  The Help-->About from the programs only indicate version number and some SKU numbers; nothing about any Standard or Premium.

Hello g_cafe_c

How much backup space do you have? I think the first letter of the product key may indicate the version also. Don't list your product key, just the first letter. You could also check mynortonaccount. That should show what product you bought.
