WHen I tried to log in to get the new sw downloaded for the 2nd time (on my hb's laptop) I got lost again. I got to a page where there was a chat window and because I was still on a Norton page I assumed it was a chat window with a Norton cust rep. So during the first few lines we exchanged the cust rep there asked me if I wanted to share my screen with him/her so he/she could help me download and install the N360. I've had that happen before and I have no problem with that system.

So the screen is taken over by that particular person, and I am given a phone number and a name to ask for. I call and talk to that person. He then proceeds to go to the field where you can give in system commands, and pulls up several pages with information about programs that are running, and many of them have 'stopped' behind the name. an other command pulls up a screen where all kind of 'danger' and stuff like that is displayed. The person on the phone is telling me that all these things prove that the laptop is severely infected.

At one point I ask him if he is working for Norton. A few seconds silence. No, he isn't. Shortly after that I broke off the conversation. But now I am wondering, all the things I saw that are obviously affecting the performance, can I get rid of that myself?\

Sorry if it is a long story but I am really confused as how this came about.
