Not Blocking sites

Can someone please help me figure out why the program isn’t blocking any of the sites that it is supposed to?

stokedsurfer,

 

what other applications do you have installed?  Do you have any other parental controls or AV software installed?  I'm guessing that rebooting doesn't help the situation.  Here are a few more questions:

 

- what browser(s) are you using?

- what version of windows?

- what version of norton safety minder?

- when you are logged in if you hover over the norton safety minder icon in the lower right hand portion of the screen what text pops up?  does it say that it is monitoring?

 

Hopefully with a few answers we can get to the bottom of the problem that you are having.

I’m also trying to block a site (Youtube) and noticed that it isn’t blocking access for my son.   I’m running XP Professional SP3, security minder is at 1.1.5.15.  There isn’t any other parental control software on this computer.  The account is reporting that it is being moitered when you log into it.   I’m using Internet Explorer 8 and Firefox 3.5 … both do not block.

Hi stokedsurfer_89 and readioact,

 

Please make sure Web Supervision is On and Block the Site is selected under Settings -> Web

 

radioact,  if you add Youtube to the blacklist, make sure you also click the UPDATE SETTINGS button to save it after you are done.
