I am subscribed to the Product & Service Announcements Blogs. On April 27 I received an email with Subject "New post in Blog: Product & Service Announcements." I opened it, expecting to see a product announcement (such as a new version), but instead it just said "27-Apr-2021 | 12:01PM Sunil_GA created Test. Test." I assumed, perhaps incorrectly, that this went out to all (or many) blog subscribers as a test related to the new Community format. But now I see that, since then, there has been at least one new entry in the Blog, and I did not receive it. (I checked my spam folder to ensure it didn't go there.)
I just now unsubscribed then re-subscribed, hoping that will "goose" it. But I thought I'd post here as well in case there are any suggestions or known problems with the emailing of updates from the Product & Service Announcements Blogs. Awhile ago (maybe a year?) I stopped receiving the announcements, and Sunil_GA was helpful in getting them to resume for me.
Even when these Announcement Blog notifications were working, the announcements were still not getting created until after the initial random group of users unwittingly received the update. So even fixing the issue of this thread is not going to address your concern of getting the 'surprise' update when you run LiveUpdate.
The issue is, if you don't know there is an update out there, and then you happen to run Live Update, you get the update whether you want it or not, from what you are saying, before it is proven. In this case, it arrived same day as Patch Tuesday WUD's, bad timing by Norton. I have a long memory, there has been times in the past, when updates have been released before being tested by Norton & have caused, in some cases, major issues. I do not want to be a 'tester' for Norton. The fact that notifications apparently come thru' from Norton 360 For Windows, blows apart all of Norton's 'reasons' why we are not receiving notifications for the Windows notifications as is the main subject of this thread.
I don't pay attention to when the parts of the update comes in through LiveUpdate as it appears you do. I just let my Norton do its job in the background. Unless I see one of your posts on the upcoming updates, I have no idea there is a pending update. So, no, I do not get the notification from the 360 thread before it is released. But at least that notification does come through, unlike the Product Announcements blog announcements.
As has been pointed out, some users are going to get the update before any announcement. If the telemetry from those updated early shows no issues, then the update is rolled out to the rest of the users and an announcement is made.
peterweb. Trick question - do you receive the Forum 360 notifications prior to receiving the actual update.? I actually receive the updates a day before the dated posting by Gayathri_R, as with the latest update, received on 14th June, his posting dated 15th June, notifications used to come out prior to actual release. If the postings/notifications are sent out for the Forum versions, once again proves the system works for everything bar Windows versions, perhaps Norton can explain this!
I've given up on getting notifications for the Announcement blogs. I have subscribed to the 360 for Windows, and the Norton Antivirus forum boards. Gayathri always posts there when there is a new version and I get those notifications. Then I can click on the link in that post to check the Announcements blog.
Just a status update that I did not receive an email notification for your 15-Jun-2023 product update announcement at Norton Security 22.23.5.106 for Windows is now available!. As always, I continue to receive email notifications for all product and service announcements exceptNorton Security for Windows.

I have not updated yet. Had an issue with updated once when if update a Windows item that was not reverdable. Has always been off but this happen once when I opened software updater & it automatically started updating, cancelling did NOT cancel. The 'update' was an earlier version that already installed. Windows & all apps know best if an update is available that's why I have it turned OFF, I want to be in charge of updates. Apparently Norton are forcing this useless updater on users now, likewise a while back, Smart Scan was turned on in an update.
Ardmore:- My feelings 100 %. Norton keep poking their noses into items that are handed by other processes. App/Software updates - apps provide their own updating procedures, Microsoft do their own updates, Microsoft provides it's own disk optimiser, Microsoft has the ability to clean up system files etc., IE like wise (IE now been superseded. Why do we need 2 ways to access feature updates, why, over 2 years ago did 'Messages' appear, only had 2 messages in that time, first one was the welcome message anyway.
Did once go into App updater, without clicking on anything, it started updating a Windows driver update, I cancelled but it still carried on & updated a driver somewhere. On checking, it was an earlier driver than previously installed, as it was NOT done by Windows, the wind back feature was not available, not even with a system restore, this shows to me, can't rely on updater anyway.
Since start of this thread, I think we have only had a couple of belated notifications. Excuse was that notifications contained graphics, various other notifications (phones, discontinuation of out of date features get thru'. Had a couple without graphics which is good enough as they contain links to the full web page details. As I have posed before, why can't Norton use the 'Messages' feature? otherwise why provide it.
Basically, Norton are NOT sending out these Windows notifications, WHY??. Did request once from Norton, dates when these were sent, no response, I wonder why.
It's almost comical how long this issue that should be easy to find a fix for has been going on. Almost two years now. It should be an embarrassment to Norton -- even if it's not central to their services -- and doesn't speak well for the company. I have a new pc where I haven't added Norton yet -- I've just been using the Windows Defender that comes with it -- and appreciate how "quiet" Defender is. I may just stick with that no-cost option, especially since Norton has become more in-your-face, with numerous, and now oversized, popups.
As Norton do not send out advance notices (sorry - NO notices) of version updates - left to me again - perhaps I should be on a retainer to do their work. Looks like update lurking again - version 22.23.3.8 MUI files received this afternoon, once again no clue of what has changed. I seem to get MUI files earlier than most but NEVER receive the published (long after event) enhancements. Think it was last week or week before, logging into password manager has changed on all browsers, once again no info from Norton - is there any body there?
Now been 20 months since this thread started - still no resolution, totally agree with Imacri facts as being correct. Norton have proven all other products come with email notifications with graphics, we have recently had Windows version updates with no graphics which is fine, at least with the included announcement link we can directly go to what used to be in the email included graphic. A few post ago, I requested Norton provide copies of the notifications that apparently been sent but not arrived - nothing provided.
We have had various reasons from Norton why we are not receiving them & so-called 'fixes', even the non-graphic notifications are intermittent which I think confirms my feelings that they are possibly not being SENT in the first place, could Norton provide more info on this.
Sunil_GA:
...We have identified the root cause for the issue "Email notifications were not sent for blog announcements", images added in blog announcements are causing email notifications to fail. The issue is not related to community admin profile permissions which we tested during the last announcement blog post that's when we found out the root cause pointing to the images in blogs...Our community platform dev team working on the fix and will update once we have more details on the fix release. Also, we will make sure to use a workaround (Publish blog without images and add them later) to send email notifications successfully for the blogs....
Hi Sunil_GA:
Further to your 08-Sep-2022 post, just a status update to confirm that I also did not receive an email notification for Gayathri_R's 04-Feb-2023 product update announcement at Norton Security 22.23.1.21 for Windows is now available!. As always, I continue to receive email notifications for all product and service announcements exceptNorton Security for Windows.
Are the platform devs certain that added images are causing email notifications to fail? I received an email notification for Gayathri_R's Norton Password Manager v8.2 for iOS is now available! on 14-Jan-2023, but this product update announcement included images of the redesigned interface for the password manager. The same images were visible in my email notification as shown below, which suggests they were included in the product update announcement when it was was originally published.
Being old fashioned, like to know there is a update lurking so, before installing (which of course would happen if you do a manual check for updates), I like to create a restore point just in case there are issues. I have a long memory, years ago Norton were issuing unchecked updates that has various issues, they culminated in the one that deleted certain Windows scheduled tasks & rendered computers useless. I did not get caught, because, by that time, lost confidence in updates, there were previous releases with issues that Norton had to pull, as with that particular major problem release. Surely, Norton know a release is due BEFORE release, why not just inform us.
The way I deal with this is with my disc imaging software, Macrium Reflect free version. I take images twice a week and store them on another network computer. That way if there is a bad update to anything on my system, I can restore and only have to worry about a couple of days info that might have to be recreated. Of course I do not have any critical information on my systems. If you do you can make daily images.

Announcement in Blogs this morning but no notifications issued. Norton know of the problem - once in a blue moon they do issue a email letting us know but seem unable to resolve issue permanently- we used to get them so what is changed - not being issued in fist place, get notifications for MAC, phones etc.
You won't see announcements for EAP versions. Those are not generally available to the general public. Only those in the EAP program should see those announcements in that section of the forums
If you have only received some MUI files for a pending update, there is not really anything to announce. When you actually get the update, then you can start looking for the announcement.
Having said that, I still did not get any notification from the announcement that was posted at 2:32 pm this afternoon.
This afternoon MUI files received for version 22.22.11.12. Posting in updates blog but no email notifications. Have received no email notification, have had emails for MAC & phones updates, also had Norton pop-ups trying to sell other apps, using features I do not want etc.. Based in UK so appear to be poor relations, most of published update features do not get so should get a reduction in subscription charges Norton - please note). Still awaiting notification email for previous update. Joke is wearing thin now Norton.
