Not working at all

I installed Norton Online Family about a month ago and thought it was working great than it stopped working all together.  It is still enabled on the desktop for the computer it's supposed to be blocking but yet it doesn't block anything at all, which is very disturbing to me.  Also their is no activity reporting whatsoever.  How do I fix this?

Hi yourstruly,

Do you see an active Norton Safety Minder icon, a dog paw (not dimmed or with a red X it) in the System Tray after the child logs onto the PC?

Do you see  your child's profile online is protected at Settings -> Profile?

Make sure the Web Supervision is On at Settins -> Web.

Thanks,

Katie

Katie,

Thanks for your quick reply.  Yes I do see an active dog paw that is enabled (not dimmed or with a red X it) in the System Tray after my chold logs onto his PC.  The child's profile online is procted at Settings->Profile

Under web settings the "block the site" is on as is web supervision.  Even sites that I have specifically blocked can be accessed.  I guess my question is, does he have to be logged in as a user or does logging in as an administrator give him FULL access?  If so at no time was this indicated to me in the installation process.  He is taking computer classes and needs administration rights to do his homework.

If they ae logging in as admin that acoount also needs to be monitored by thier profile.I have norton safety minder running on all accounts on my laptop and if i want i just disable it when i am on.

I got to thinking about it, and this was orginally set up under the admin account and was working so that shouldn't be affecting it.  I need a fix for this please!

yourtruly,

Please only give the child's user account non-administrator rights(restricted or limited) and keep the password for your Norton Online Family away from the child.   Otherwise, a monitored child is able to tamper the system.

Katie

Katie,

This product stopped working all together and it was working perfectly  in the first place on an administrator account.  So why would it stop working all together, yet show that it is set up correctly across the board, with everything activiated.  My son didn't tamper with it, I have tested it out myself from his computer several times and it shows ZERO ACTIVITY and BLOCKS NOTHING.  I was considering upgrading my account but I sure as heck am not paying for a product that I can't use.  This is ridduclous.

yourstruly,

Please download and install the latest Norton Safety Minder on the PC.  The version should be 2.1.0.37.  You can find it by clicking the NSM icon in the System Tray and selecting About Norton Safety Minder.

Thanks,

Katie

I give up.  I've tried uninstalling & reinstalling and now it doesn't even want to install on my computer.  It apparantly wasn't even recognizing my computer after it was initialling installed.  The second go round it gave me all kinds of grief, errors & timeouts.  I assume this is compatible with Windows 7 64 bit which is what I have.  Otherwise this has been an enormous waste of my time and I am just going to get NetNanny which has way better ratings anyways.  Thanks for your help anyways.
