Notion 360 Mac v 26.3.0 and Ultimate Utilities Update Confusion

Mac with the latest update and Norton 360 with version 26.3.0. On the performance tab, it says I have Norton Utilites Ultimate but on the website its a standalone paid service, this is very confusing and I thought my virus scanner was broken becaue why would it give me a paid subscription for free. Can someone provide information and how come I don’t have norton 26.3.2 if I have the latest update

Hello @EAgames
Does this help?

Norton 360 for Mac v26.3 supports integration with Norton Utilities Ultimate (NUU) for users who have both subscriptions in the same account.

In the v26.3 update, existing NUU customers on macOS may receive in-app notifications inviting them to install the standalone Norton Utilities Ultimate app. While NUU is technically a standalone service and not automatically a free feature of every Norton 360 plan, it can be downloaded and activated on macOS 11 or higher if you have a valid subscription for it.

Key Details for Mac Users

  • Requirements: To use NUU with Norton 360 v26.3, you must have macOS 11 (Big Sur) or later.
  • Installation: If NUU was purchased as an add-on, activation typically happens automatically. Otherwise, you can manually download it from the My Norton portal under Manage My Subscriptions.
  • Mac Features: On macOS, NUU includes tools like:
    • Startup Manager: Disables background programs that slow down boot times.
    • File Cleanup: Removes system junk and leftover files from uninstalled apps.
    • Uninstaller: Identifies and removes unnecessary applications.
    • Duplicate Finder & Photo Cleaner: Finds identical files and poor-quality photos to save space.

Important Considerations

  • Not All Plans Include NUU: Some retail bundles (like specific Norton 360 Deluxe or Premium packages) include NUU, while others treat it as a separate paid add-on.
  • Device Limits: NUU for Mac uses one of the device seats from your subscription.
  • Subscription Sync: Both Norton 360 and Norton Utilities Ultimate must be activated under the same Norton account for the best integrated experience.

=======================================

Norton 360 for Mac v26.3 supports integration with Norton Utilities Ultimate (NUU) if both subscriptions are active under the same account.

Starting with version 26.2, Norton 360 for Mac can automatically detect an active NUU subscription on your account and initiate the installer in the background to streamline the setup process.

Key Integration & Usage Details

  • Automatic Installation: If you have Norton 360 v26.2 or higher and an active NUU license, the system may automatically download and start the NUU installer for you.
  • In-App Notifications: In version 26.3, existing NUU customers may see specific notifications within the Norton 360 interface inviting them to install or access the Utilities app.
  • Distinct Applications: Despite the installation integration, the two products still operate as separate applications with their own icons; NUU features are not fully embedded directly inside the main Norton 360 dashboard.
  • Account Requirement: For this cross-product communication to work, both the Norton 360 and NUU subscriptions must be registered to the same Norton account.

System Requirements for NUU on Mac
To use this integration, your device must meet these minimum standards:

  • Operating System: macOS 11 (Big Sur) or later.
  • Software Version: Norton 360 v26.2 or higher (v26.3 is fully compatible).
  • Subscription: A standalone NUU license or a bundled plan (e.g., Norton 360 with Norton Utilities Ultimate).

Caveat: I’m not Mac

Hello @EAgames
Where do you find/see 26.3.2 ?

Caveat: I’m not Mac

Not really @bjm I saw this and it added to the confusion because I am not an “existing Utilities Ultimate customers on macOS may see notifications inviting them to install the Norton Utilities Ultimate app on their Mac.”

It’s confusing so i assume it will work until them update the next version of nortion than i will be back to just norton 360.

Oh!? okay…are you seeing “notifications inviting NUU install”…even thought you’re not an “existing Norton Utilities Ultimate customer”?
Or, were you confused by:

NUU offering within Norton 360 for Mac.
To help clarify…here’s an overview of how it works, based on two common scenarios.

:white_check_mark: Scenario 1: NUU subscription exists in the same Norton account

Applies when:

  • The user already has an active NUU subscription (standalone or add‑on) in the same Norton account as Norton 360
  • NUU is not yet installed on the Mac
  • The user has available installs remaining

What to expect:

  • Norton 360 detects that NUU is available in the account but not installed
  • The user is prompted to install NUU via a notification or Inbox message, with an Install Now call‑to‑action
  • The user can install NUU immediately by following the on‑screen steps, or dismiss the notification and install it later
  • If dismissed, the Install NUU option remains available under
    Norton 360 > Performance tab
  • Alternatively, the user can sign in to their Norton Account and download NUU directly (supported on macOS 11 and above)

:white_check_mark: Scenario 2: No NUU subscription in the account

Applies when:

  • Norton 360 is active, but there is no NUU subscription in the same Norton account

What to expect:

  • During a Smart Scan, Norton 360 may detect performance‑related issues (such as clutter, low storage, or other defined rules)
  • Since no NUU subscription is found, the user is shown an option to purchase NUU
  • After completing the purchase, the user can follow the on‑screen instructions to download and install NUU

Norton Utilities is not free for Norton 360 users. Yes, it’s confusing but it requires a different paid subscription for Norton Utilities. Hope that helps

Thanks
