The fact that NPE runs fine soon after bootup, but not after Windows has been on for a while, sounds like a clue that should help the developers to hone in on the issue.
Sorry to double post, but just to give a bit more information: this problem only seems to happen when the computer has been on for a while. If I run NPE as soon as I boot my computer, this problem does not occur, however I’ve tested it with my computer being on for an hour, even with nothing but Norton open in that time, and it always occurs then.
OK, the issue that steph3 and PhilipS1 reported above with NPE version 5.3.0.100 has now happened to me too. Which operating system were you each running when you ran into the problem? In my case, NPE ran fine on Windows 7, but it locked up the PC exactly as you described it on a Vista system.
For what it's worth, I can report that NPE version 5.3.0.100 ran tonight and there were no problems of any kind. So maybe the new issues cropping up aren't related to NPE itself, but with some interaction of NPE with something else on the computer.
But I'll definitely keep an eye for new weirdness like this and pass it along if I run into it.
So now I have a new problem with the NPE . When I go to run a scam it goes through the normal 'Loading...Checking for Updates...Initializing ". It sticks at "Initializing.." to the point it locks up my whole computer and I have to manually restart. Anyone else having an issue ? It just started yesterday and did it again today. Thanks in advance.
Yes, I tried it for the first time since the update yesterday and again today and it did the exact same thing for me on both occasions. I have to manually hold down the power button on my computer to restart it. However, after I've restarted this way and I immediately go into NPE it works. Do you get the same behaviour, PhilipS1? This obviously is still a problem though!
To answer bjm_, I am running the 5.3.0.100 version.

Also that upper level support call I was promised within 24-72 hours last Friday to help resolve the problem....still waiting. Their support has gone way down hill over the last couple of years. I used to brag about them now....not so much.
steph3:
I'm getting that message too, PhilipS1. If you scroll up in this thread, it seems that our threads and posts in them have all been merged into this thread.
I'm sure that is what you are seeing. I noticed the merger when I got notifications for posts I had already seen. So any links you have to the older posts will no longer be valid.
