How do you know you have picked up an actual virus, did your antivirus program tell you?
There is another thread on here about the nqgpdlr toolbar, you may wish to read that.
I am guessing you use N.I.S.; what Version, e.g. 2008?
I would Run LiveUpdate and then do a Full System Scan.

Recently, our computer got a Adware Virus, and another Unknown virus.
Now the first one, the nqgpedlr added a web bar on our Internet that wants us to get a Anti Virus program, which, we don't want, but it keeps coming up, and we can't get rid of it.
And the other Virus is a bigger worrisome, Its a Virus, the got rid of the Log Off icon, so that we can't log off, it also got rid of the All Programs Icon, so we can't access that either, and finally, we can't change any of our settings, when we go to do that, it says the Administrator has disabled it. It also wont let us bring up our task manager.
Please help!!
I don't know what is nqgpedlr but first I recommend you to check "Add/Remove programs" and see if there is something related with this application. Delete any suspicious entries. If you are still unable to get rid of this toolbar, and if you are using Internet Explorer, go to: "Tools" menu, then "Manage Add-ons" and "Enable or disable add-ons". You should see "Add-ons currently loaded by IE". Try to disable suspicious add-ons, and restart Internet Explorer.
About your second problem, yes, your computer seems to be infected. You should contact Norton Support as the problem seems to be more serious than the previous one. Before doing this, I recommend you to update your virus definitions and run full system scan in safe mode, if possible.

Yes, I think it is probably a variation of the infamous Vundo family of infections.
Let's wait to see if he gets back before offering any more removal sugestions.
