NS on Windows XP becoming a tad stroppy?

Over the last week or so NS on my XP machine has been not doing anything if you click on Quick Scan or Run Scans -> Go -> Quick/Full Scan.

Sometimes its OK but mostly more like its in the huff. The machine isn't doing anything CPU intensive from what I can see and I haven't changed anything on the machine itself for months now and until last week it was absolutely fine.

(NS on my Win 10 machines are fine.)

Anything I can check? Do? As I will probably decommission the machine in the next few months I'm reluctant to start uninstalling/installing Norton on it.
