NSM doesn't work

The problem is still there.  I have tried every uninstall / reinstall combination presented to me by Symantec employees.  Nothing works.  The NRT cannot remove the program because there is a WinFax Pro program that it detects; this program is not even defined on my control panel and is not even a Norton product.  Norton Internet Security works (I have uninstalled it and reinstalled it), but NSM does not.  I have two options at this point:

1.  Different product (money)

2.  Completely wipe computer memory with restore disk and start from scratch (several hours)

Is the problem that NSM is a "free" product?  Do I need to get the "preimer" version in order to get a functioning product?

Please advise.
