NU 16: manual defrag

I recently installed NU 16. Still getting used to it. After the daily scheduled optimiztion, I get a message in red stating, "Attention! Manual defrag required. I have searched the Help files for a description of manual defrag, nothing. I have accomplished many defrags on the partitions, and they indicate Optimized. I keep getting the message. Anyone know what this means? Anyone know how to accomplish a manual defrag so i can make the message go away?

On NU 16 - I haven't used the deep or quick defrag due to the warnings.

Deleting system restore files?   Making some window functions unusable?    Really?

Can you help me understand why anyone would use this as opposed to a normal MS defrag?

Len

I had already tried defrags several times using both the deep and quick defrag methods. I tried it again just to be sure. I have used NU for many years and am quite familiar and comfortable with how it works and how it should work, the caveat being before NU 16.0.

That being said, every time the daily optimization scheduled run of NU 16.0 occurs, I get the following message in red "Attention. Manual defrag required." When I click on the message it takes me to the Performance page of NU 16.0.

The disk partitions all indicated they are Optimized. When I run the Analysis, it returns a result stating the disk does not need defragmentation.

Your advice was the same given by Norton Support.

Thanks but it is not the solution to the error message.

Hey akbeaver,

Try to do a "Boot time optimize" Defrag and select 'defrag on reboot' > Start

Then restart you PC and let the scan run.

Let me know how that goes.
