I would agree on upgrading.

Please have a look over here in the Upgrade Center

Please uninstall v2008 through theregular add/remove.

Funny…I bought 2008 to fix 2007 (ran like a hog).  Not exactly what I call a fix…more like throwing a dart.  I just bought this program about two months ago and as I mentioned before the scan feature still can’t finish on my PC without getting bogged down to a crawl.  This is disappointing if all that can be suggested is to buy the latest version and hope for the best.

Sorry if I did not explain myself correctly.

There is really no need in buying, upgrade is totally free. Upgrading is probably not the only solution but it is the easiest ;)

Thanks for your help.  I discovered after my last reply that I can upgrade for free (a nice surprise for a change).  Hopefully it will take care of my issues.

When I start my PC after a few days, I get a message saying my computer is at risk because the updates are out of date.  When I check my settings, the "Automatic Update" is set to "On" (but unlike other items there, the text is black instead of green).  If I click "Run Liveupdate" on the left side of the window, I get a message saying it's already running in the background and to try again later.  If I try again right away, the update process starts.

This doesn't sound like "Automatic Update" behavior to me.  My previous versions would tell me updates are available and ask if I wanted to run Liveupdate now.  Why doesn't that work here on NIS2008?

I ran the AutoFix and it found nothing wrong with my installation.

Also, when I run a full system scan, it takes forever and gradually slows down to where the folder path currently being scanned stops updating.  I thought NIS2008 was supposed to be a big improvement over previous versions.  My last version took forever, too.

Anyone else experience this?

Thanks

Why dont you try NIS 2009. Its better and faster. Use the Norton Removal tool to get rid of NIS 2008. Also be sure your system tray clock (Windows clock) is on the right time and day.
