Odd scan results.

Anyone know why Norton detects more files in a folder than are actually there?

I have a folder of 419 pics I downloaded off various websites.

I went to do a manual scan of the folder ad Norton said there are no threats found, but it indicated there are 450 files in the folder.

So I tried the manual scan with a couple more folders of pictures and videos I've taken off the internet and also folders that contain only pictures and videos I personally have taken.

Same with all of them. Norton is scanning more files than are there.

118 files, Norton results show 122 files scanned

24 files, Norton results show 27 files scanned.

119 pictures i took, Norton results show 133 files scanned.

I tried to scan a couple folders on another computer that is running MSE and it also scanned more files than were there.

The wierd thing is, I tried an experiment.

I moved the file of 419 photos(Norton said there was 450 files)  to a thumb drive, erased the folder from the PC, then moved the file back from the thumb drive to my computer, redid the scan, and Norton detected 420 files.

Anyone have a clue why this is happening?
