OK to display safe web status on site?

I registered my website for Norton SafeWeb verification. Within a week or two I ought to have the green "OK" square indicator in the site pofile. I'd like to display a safeweb logo in my footer that links to the profile. Is this okay?

Does anybody know?

Thanks for your help.

Hello The-Dean and Welcome

Please provide us with the name of your website. Have you followed the insttructions from the Safe Web Team?

Please follow instructions on this site for Safe Web Site problems.

You first have to get owndership of the website verified.

After that there is a process that is followed to get the site evaluated.

If you are having difficulty following these instructions, please let us know and I can then contact the Safe Web Team. Thanks.

Yes. That's not what my question is about.

Please follow instructions on this site for Safe Web Site problems.

I am not experiencing problems. I just have a question about using the  Norton SafeWeb logo on my site.

You first have to get owndership of the website verified.

I know. I did that.

After that there is a process that is followed to get the site evaluated.

I know. That's what I said. I have already submitted it.

If you are having difficulty following these instructions, please let us know and I can then contact the Safe Web Team.

I'm not having any difficulty with any instructions. My question has nothing to do with any complication in the evaluation process.

What I asked is, "When the site is evaluated and gets the green "OK", can I use that logo on my site and link to my norton site profile to indicate that it has an "OK" Norton approval?"

Hi The-Dean,

To the best of my knowledge, Norton trademarked logos are not permitted to be used in the manner which you describe.

If you wanted to communicate that information to your visitors, I suggest using a plain text hyperlink to your site's Norton Safe Web rating.

This topic has been brought up before, and it might be helpful if you posted your thoughts in the Products Suggestions board.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for the thoughtful reply Phil_D!

It's crazy because there are loads of examples in Google images, which means people are using it. That doesn't make it right or legal, of course. Any ideas how I could find out where it's been discussed before?

I would have to do some searching to where it has been discussed before.

If memory serves, it comes up a few times each year.  I'll try later to see if I can find examples.

I would also like to be able to display some sort of Norton 'seal of approval' on the websites which I manage.

In the mean time, check out Webutation. This service compiles safety ratings from a variety of sources including Norton Safe Web to develop an overall site rating.

You are permitted (and encouraged) to post that rating with their well designed green shield logo on your website.

If you go this route, I would be sure to have a number of good ratings before dispalying the Webutation code on your website.

Hope that helps!

Thanks a lot Phil_D.
