Old PC died - How do I restore from Norton online storage to new PC

My old laptop had Norton 360 2.0 Premium. I stored important files online. The laptop no longer works. My subscription ran out in November, but I purchased and installed Norton 360 version 3.0 on my new laptop. How can I restore those files from my former laptop?

Hi studolgon,

Please see if this link helps to restore yur files:

http://service1.symantec.com/support/norton360.nsf/0/63756ef349a600b8652572e50073de3f?OpenDocument&seg=hm&lg=en&ct=us

This only finds and restores files backed up from the NEW laptop. How can I find the files I backed up online from the OLD inaccessible laptop?

If I understood you correctly, then you have got Norton Online Backup? I myself have got Norton Internet Security, so I am not familiar with some functions of Norton 360.

If you have got Norton Online Backup, then this document should give you the instructions you require:

http://www.symantec.com/norton/support/kb/web_view.jsp?wv_type=public_web&selected_nav=partner&pvid=&docurl=20090204114146EN

Cannot find a way to see where the backed up files are at Norton. I backed up 10 gigs but my one-year expired. I purchased a new 360 DVD and installed on my new laptop (and can backup the new laptop's files), but that new laptop cannot find the old laptop's backed up files.

I think that the best thing for you to do on this issue is to contact Customer Service Chat. I'm not certain of the procedures when a product is allowed to expire with an online backup saved.

The online backed up files can be restored in a new PC using https://nobu.backup.com/session/new, provided you remember your Norton account email id and password. Here is the link with instructions how to do that,

Check if this helps.

Hello studolgon

Please do not post your information about your key into the forum. Did you follow the instructions from the Symantec employee?

i don't know for sure but im willing to bet that since the subscription expired you may not be able to do it on your own. theres no sense from a business perspective why they would still keep your files if your product expired. i noticed that you said you bought a new subscription. a new subscription will include a new set of online backup space and not the space you have from your last subscription. you should contact customer support and see if they can help. use the help and support links and be sure to let them know the info on your old subscription and let them know you bought a new one.

was the new one premier too?

Hi there...1st post :smileyhappy:

I have the same problem as the original poster; my subscription never expired, though. My question is: Can I safely restore files (music, mainly) that I backed up from my Vista PC, onto my new Windows 7 PC? If there's no problem in doing that then I'll see if I can follow the instructions and download them

:smileyhappy:

After expiry of your product key Norton keeps your online backup alive for 15days of grace period, after which it is all been erased. Sorry to say this would be the reason for why you lost your backup data.
