Recently had to have my Dell reformatted by a computer technician due to extreme slowness and apparently corrupt files. Reloaded Norton 360 with no problem, but have used product for 2 years and currently have between 2 and 10 gb of on-line backup. Went to download from on-line backup but Norton tells me there are no files. Can anyone explain?
Hi,
please try this:
1. Open Backup settings
2. Configure a backup set, on the where section select Online Backup (first you have to connect to the Norton Account)
3. Save the backup setting
4. Open My Computer
5. There should be a new item called Norton Backup Drive, double click on it
6. You should now see at least one folder in it (it should be your machine's name), browse into that folder
7. In the folder you should see every single file you backed up previously
8. Select the ones you want to restore, right click on them and select copy
9. Go to a local folder / drive on your machine and right click with your mouse and select Paste
If that did not do the trick, please go to the http://nobu.backup.com/ site, and after logging in select the use it with Norton 360 option.
Let us know the results.
I am making progress and found the Norton Backup in "My Computer." I know I am being dense about this, but when you say "Open Backup Settings," what location am I in at to open those settings? Since I have found the Norton Backup in My Computer, and can find my files there, it looks like I may simply need to restore them and save them. Am I on the right track?
Thanks for your help.
If you've located the Norton Backup drive, under My Computer or Computer, you should be able to double click on it. From there it will expand to show online content. You can then simply drag and drop the content you want restored to your preferred destination. Just make sure that you let the process finish once you start it and don't stop or close any of the windows. It may take some time since it has to rebuild the files server side first, package them for transfer and then download to your computer.
If you can provide the version of Norton 360 you're using I can give you a little more explicit directions if the above doesn't make sense.
