Does it gives you any error number?
This window mostly comes up, if there is an error in the product...
No error messages or anything. I can click about anywhere on the screen or in a program and it decides to open.
Not all the time, but frequently enough to be somewhat annoying. I did look for a way to shut that feature off.
What is the version number of your 360? You can check it on the Help & Support -> About menu (it must be like this: 3.5.2.11).
The newest, 3.8.0.41
Try this:
1. Open 360's main window
2. Click on Help & Support -> Get Support
3. One Click Support will start, when it is loaded, click on Begin Support Session (it will scan your Norton program for any known error, and will try to fix it)
4. When it is done check if it had done anything (it must tell you)
5. Reboot, and check if the Support window comes up again
Let us know the results.
Interesting.. it gets past the main One Click splash page, goes to the next page and shows loading. But then it stops
and the "not responding" message shows up. Haven't been able to get it to complete loading.
It seems that something happened to the Support part of the program... :(. I hoped, that the One Click Support's fixing tool would resolve the issue, but it seems that something more serious happend.
What now I can suggest to you is to reinstall the product, that will help to completely resolve the problem (with the fixing tool I tried to avoid this...).
Here are the steps to do this:
1. Download Norton Removal Tool (www.norton.com/nrt) and the latest Norton 360 version (www.norton.com/n360s_3 /Standard/ or www.norton.com/n360p_3 /Premium/)
2. Uninstall Norton 360 via Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs
3. Reboot
4. Run the Norton Removal Tool 2-3 times to erase all the remaining files and registry keys (This will remove every other Norton products as well!!!!)
5. Reboot
6. Install Norton 360 by the downloaded setup package, and activate it with your product key
7. Run Live Update manually until you get no other updates
Let us know the results.
Hello tomg88
System is stable and running fine.
This problem you are having now may be the result of you running the paid version of Malwarebytes even with the live time scanning turned off. Both programs are trying to update or are using the same processes. If you uninstall the paid version of Malwarebytes, do you have the same problem? I don't know if Malwarebytes would have a removal tool or not for the paid version. I know you said in the other thread you posted in that you don't see anything running when you disable it.
Taking the easiest route I deleted Malwarebytes. Checked directories and the registry and deleted all entries. Then shut down and rebooted. No change, One Click wouldn't load.
Hello tomg88
By having had the 2 programs installed at the same time may have allowed malware to enter into your computer. Another possibility is that when you installed the paid version, you may have damaged N360 with the introduction of conflicting scanners. You may have caused more problems than having any solved.
Please post a HiJackThis log so we can see what is in your computer now.
Please download HiJackThis from http://free.antivirus.com/hijackthis/ Choose the executable and save it on your desktop. Run the file and select the first option on the main menu "Do a system scan and save a log file". When this is finished, Notepad will open with the log file in it. Save the log file and attach it to a post here via the Add Attachments Please don't attempt to fix anything that it shows until someone checks out the log. Thanks.
hkwasnie - Welcome to the Community and I hope we can get your problem solved. I used the search feature, to search the Forum for error 3043,1, and I don't think there was any one solution. A lot of those errors came up after a "System Restore" was done and the error 3039,1 was usually a malware problem. Have you tried running any on-demand security scans? Here is a link to Malwarebytes' and SUPERAntiSpyware on-demand security scanners, they both are free and play nice with Nortons. Let us know what you find and we'll go from there.
Please let us know what is the exact version of your product
