I get a message that the backup has failed with (W32) shown but no link to what that is!

when the file you are trying to backup is in use by another program, the Windows error code occurs or back end process which makes a duplicate of your backup data for added protection came in and began to copy before your backup had completed.
this issue was referred to by scott_moen, symantec emp in another post.
just wait awhile and try again. first try to backup a small file like an email to check if backup actually works and they you can move onto bigger files. let us know your findings!
