Online backup

Hello you all

I want to delete some of my online backed up files, and i dont have my purge files link on the file actions tab.

can someone help me with this?

have a nice day.

I should add when I cancel what I have backed up so far and turn off the computer.

Hello Bertie

Are you following the directions outlined in this link?

If yes can you please provide the following info:

  • What operating system are you using?
  • What browser are you using?
  • Are you trying to add the files from the computer that contains the files?

Wesley thanks very much for your reply. I have tried to do two things. The first was to add file extensions .ods and .odt to the file types that the backup loooked for when backing up. This is what the program seems not to accept. I tried this as most of the files I work with have this extension. A red cross appears each time I try. As far as I can tell I have followed the instructions.

The second thing I have tried was to add the folder within my documents where most of these files are stored. This folder now appears where I was asked to put in the folder name, but again a red cross appears at the end of the line. This suggests there is something that the system doesn't like with what I am doing.

I am using windows7 (fully updated); windows explorer (latest version) ; and I have only one computer to back up.

I have used 4.3 gb of storage of my ration of 5gb in the first backup.

One more thing - in trying to work out quite what is backed up and what is not I would find a print out of what is now backed up useful. How do I go about getting this?

Hi Bertie

Have you followed the directions outlined in this article on how to create custom rules?

Since My Documents is already selected as part of the general rule set you may have inadvertently created a duplicate rule set. As a result it cancelled itself out. Creating a custom rule though should get around it.

The easiest way to see what you have backed up is to go to the restore screen. You don't have to actually perform a restore but you can check out what is available. Directions can be found here.

Thanks Wesley. I seem to have overcome my problems now. It seems that by specifying the folders that contain my open office text and spreadsheet files they have been added on the second backup run.  Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

Hi Bertie - That's good news to hear. Please mark the message as resolved if there are no further questions. You can find directions on how to do so by clicking here.

I had microsoft works task launcher on my computer it stopped working properly (most likely from deleting an unwanted program that shared a file with MS works) anyhow when I went to my backups to look for my copy of MS works so I can reinstall it

and repair my copy there is nothing but numbers, how can I find what files I need?  I am unable to obtain a copy of MS works from the Mickysoft website as it is no longer supported so my backup is my last hope for getting a copy without paying for it..

Thanks.

My backups are very slow and are failing regularly.  My event viewer shows VSS errors (8194) as the cause of the failures.

Volume Shadow Copy Service error:  Unexpected error querying for the IVssWriterCallback interface.  hr=0X80070005, Access is denied.
This is often caused by incorrect security settings in either the writer or the requestor.

I am fairly confident I have eliminated the writer which leaves the requestor. What do I need to do to fix this issue.  I've found a few "fixes" for the writer but not the requestor.  Any help will be appreciated.
