Online family update broke my computer

I’m starting a new thread to address all the issues I have encounters this morning.

I woke up to see that an update had occurred. My first thought was “yay” thy finally fixed the java thing.

When I restarted the little icon in the system tray said it needed parental action. When you click on it nothing happens. Where do I find where this action needs to take place?

Then a popup came up for me to log in. When i did that it told me “this machine is already registered”. And wouldn’t let me log in. When trying to login the website it says server error. Then I Cousy get to any websites at al, nothing will load.

When I try to log in to online family via my iPhone it says “invalid credentials”. I have not changed my password

Last of all when I try to instill this god forsaken product, it wants me to log in and I can’t.

So someone tell me how to get it off so I can use my computer again.

I posted in an other thread with the same exact problems.  I did an upgrade, the icon in the task bar showed "Parent action is required".  I wish it would tell me what action is required. :(

So, then I tried to login to my account and it said my login is not associated with my machine (or something like that).  I didn't do anything to my login or machine.  The software just did an upgrade and now I can't login to my account.  Then, when I keep trying to login, it is telling me there are server problem and try again.  Then, when I try again, I keep getting messages about server problems.

How could a simple upgrade do this?

Same problem here! I also posted a thread...

I'm a bit upset Norton did this....

Same thing here. I updated Norton yesterday, and my Apache can't be up. Can someone help????????

Hi gaoshelley,

I've sent you a private message.  Please check it when you get a chance.

Thanks,

Katie

Just auto-updated on my son's PC, now we can't access the internet on his Norton Family account, nor on my Administrator account.

Great job.  I can't even remove the farqin' program because it won't recognize my email/password, and after 3 tries the program is "Not Responding"  Rebooted 3 times now, powered down fully twice.  Every other PC on my network is fine, router and cable modem all fine.

19-year IT veteran, and this is tragic of this update, and this product....

Windows 7 32-bit on his machine.

How about emailing us an update/removal tool to fix this.  Oh yeah, you have to make it able to be copied onto a USB, as his PC will no longer talk to the internet.  This has really screwed up the Network stack!!!

Hi CavemanTech,

I sent you a private message.  Could you check it when you get a chance?

Thanks,

Katie

Katie, read my post,

I rebooted 3 times and powered down completely for 1 minute, twice.

I also took him off DHCP and put him on a Static IP.  Every other Internet device in his room works fine, XBOX360, Blu-Ray, Internet TV.

Whenever we open IE9 on his PC, it cannot resolve host names or DNS entries.  His PC can still see and connect to all local IP devices on my network however.  It cannot connect to Windows Update, or any Internet program, we cannot even update his Norton Internet Security.

Windows 7 Network and Sharing Center still state he is able to "see" the Internet.

So, get the brain-trust in gear, this is a MAJOR issue...

Mine seems to be fine now…it would be nice to see an option to opt out of autistic updates, like all my other software I would prefer to choose if and when to download the updates.

Can someone answer if this update fixed the java 7 issue before I update java and screw it all up again
