Open ports in a firewall

I'm trying to play Spades on MSN games.  When I get to the game, I get this msg:  "

Unable to connect error

 

 

 

 

 

 

Try re-launching your game.

 

 

 

 

 

Please close this window and re-launch your game.

If this problem persists, there may be network issues with the server or a problem with your firewall configuration. Please check your firewall settings by viewing the Open Ports FAQ.

According to the Open Ports FAQ, I need to have certain ports open in order for the games to work.  How do I find out if they're open, or open them.

Norton automatically allows the appropriate traffic through the necessary ports.

 

Do you have a router? If you do, you need to open ports in the router configuration.

Some port info for you

 

80 (To access the Internet – required for all games.)

443 (Sign In)

1863 (Windows Live Messenger– needed for multiplayer games and Windows Live Messenger games)

6891 and 6900 (Windows Live Messenger File Transfer features – only necessary if you wish to use these features in Windows Live Messenger.)

28000-28809 (Internet Games that are pre-installed in Windows XP.)
