Hi,
I recently read a comment made by yogesh_mohan about opening certain ports through Norton 360 premier edition. I followed the instructions he listed and got to the end where I had to click on "Finish". In red, Norton stated that this should only be done by people who truly know what they or doing or by the advice of tech support. I have had problems with viruses before and I just want to be sure that by doing so I will still be safe. This stuff is like a foreign language to me. The ports I need to open are for Itunes home sharing, which I believe are ports TCP port 3689 and UDP port 5353. If you could help me out and I guess let me know if you think opening these ports would still allow my computer to be safe would help alot and I would really appreciate it. Thanks.
Hi Kilaudio,
Let us know the exact problem which you are facing with Itunes program. For home sharing, you can make the other computers in your home network as Trusted in Network Security map rather than opening these ports.

I orignally authorized my audible account to another computer a family member of mine is using. I shared my library and everything went smooth. Ever since I installed NIS 360 I am unable to deauthorize or authorize my account. It always shows that either an error has occured or that my username or password are incorrect. I dont believe that it is my username or password because I have not changed them from what they originally were. I looked up the problem under Itunes support program and they said that the problem could be that those certain ports were closed. Thats the only thing that I think it could possibly be. Can you think of anything else that it could be?
Turn off the Firewall from Norton 360 program and check whether able to authroize your audible account. Let us know the results
By taking off Norton 360 firewall I am leaving myself vulnerable to many different types of viruses arent I? Thats what I am afraid of and would be the last thing that I want to have happen.
You can turn off the firewall temporarily and enable it back soon after you test the authorization. To confirm whether firewall is blocking your access you have to disable firewall and check this. If firewall is blocking the access, then only you need to configure the firewall- create rules to open specific ports or allow communication.
Alright. I tried that and it still said that my username and password were incorrect. I actually went and contacted the apple store and they went through and set me up with a new password and everything and it got taken care of. Thanks for all over your help though and your speedy responses. I really appreciate it.
