Several weeks ago I had an issue with Identity Safe wanting me to log into my account to open it, but it wouldn't open my account. Changed password, but problem persisted. Went online and googled Norton Support and called a phone number I thought was Norton Support. They claimed to be Norton Support, but were actually Orange Tech Services. Like a dope, I was convinced I had all sorts of viruses and malware in my PC and paid for a protection service which "includes Norton Anti-Virus and Internet Secuirity". When my Norton 360 account sent me a automatic renewal notice, and the Identity Safe issue reoccured, I called Orange Tech. They uninstalled my Norton 360 from my desktop, and installed Norton Internet Security with Backup (much less expensive than Norton 360 and only good for one PC instead of the 3 PCs Norton 360 covers) - with their Norton Account. So I am stuck with them for Norton support for the next three years.
Orange Tree is rated A- by BBB, but I don't like their business practices. Has anyone else - including Norton employees - run into this company before?
Hi Woody
Sorry about your experience -- all too frequent unfortunately in view of the number of non-Norton sites listed when you search on Norton Support. Some are actual "Norton Partners" but many are not.
I suggest you contact Norton OnLine Support via the CHAT route that uses your computer keyboard rather than your phone and ask if they can help. Norton does have a 60 day warranty and if in fact this company is an appointed retailer you should have a right to a full refund and if the supplier is difficult about honoring it then Norton will.
To contact customer support Click on this link https://www.norton.com/chat and work on from there.
Also make sure Norton cancel the Automatic Renewal before they bill you or you will be paying twice.
Norton 360 and Norton Internet Security are both replaced now by Norton Security in different sub-versions so if Norton CHAT do sort things out for you you should consider going to the modern versions.
If you paid Orange Tech for what they did using a credit card, do consider entering a Dispute with the Credit Card company who may then immediately credit the payment back to your card while they investigate and resolve the matter. You could claim misleading and unnecessary work.
Please let us know how you get on ....
NO, you are definitely NOT stuck with Orange Tech for support. The official Norton Customer Support is completely free and can be contacted at http://www.norton.com/chat. Norton Security with Backup, now called Norton Security Premium covers either 5 or 10 devices depending on your location, so it sounds like you have been well and truly ripped off. I suggest you have nothing more to do with these scammers.
I'm not sure there is anything Customer Support can do for you now but there is a 60 day refund policy with Norton products so you might like to pursue that.
