Order processing takes 48 hours?

So recently I switched over to Norton AntiVirus 2011 from ESET. After I purchased the Norton software through the online store the norton.com domain sent me a e-mail saying "we are having a technical difficulty with processing your order." It also said "there is a issue with your order." I installed the Norton chat software and the representative said order processing "may take 24 to 48 hours." They said the delay was due to "it processing time varies as the time depending upon to generate the product key." The Norton representative was given my order number and this was their explanation. I called my bank and they said there are no holds on my account (sometimes this happens) and the Norton charge already had gone through and not to try again.

Pretty strange; I have ordered lots of software though the norton.com website and have never had any issues in the past.

Hi x7ep,

Welcome to the Norton Community.

You said you recently switched from ESET to NAV (Norton Antivirus). Does this mean you already have NAV installed - perhaps in trial mode at the moment?

I agree it is very unusual for this type of error. Normally orders go through the Norton website without any problems. Can you provide a link from where you placed your order? At the end of the order process (even prior to the email) did you get confirmation of your order? Normally the product key AND order number will be shown at the end of the order process as well as you receiving an email confirmation of your order.

Are you sure the email you received came from Norton? What was the origination email address?

Finally, what link did you use to contact Norton support? I would recommend you try again at the link below and provide your order number. They should be able to assist you. Note that Chat is the best option.

Also, did you completely remove ESET before attempting to install NAV? You should also run a removal tool to ensure ESET is completely removed first. I realize this has nothing to do with your order issue but I want to make sure you get a good installation of NAV.

You can get the ESET removal tool from here. Make sure this matches the ESET software you previously had.

Finally, if you do already have NAV please tell us the version. You can find this from Support > About.

If you do not already have NAV installed you can download the English version from here. This will allow you to install it in trial mode until the order issue gets worked out. If you need a different language please let us know. Also, be sure to run Live Update repeatedly (rebooting as requested) until it reports there are no more updates. And please don't install this until you have ESET properly removed as previously noted.

Hope this helps and please let us know how it goes.

Best wishes.

Allen
