Out of band update for Windows 10 KB4517211 released

Folks!! There are a bunch of fixes in this update. Get it via WU or manually download.

Cheers

It is really not an out-of-band release. It is an optional "D" release which is intended for IT groups to check out these fixes before they update all their system on the next Update Tuesday ("B" release).

MS does not include any security fixes in the "D" releases.

Jim  cool

I don't think I had any temp spikes so far as a quick look at Speccy is concerned but I did not get the download when I tried earlier. I'll try again -- and yes I did unpause ....

Hugh, I took it to mean that Highlights, stated as "updates" to specific issues, are an integral part of ALL the issues fixed in the update. Microsoft certainly does have its own way of expressing explicit confusion don't you think?

One would hope so but as you say ......

A weird issue occurred while installing this update on my new Dell laptop. Yeah!! Its the one that has the AMD R5 graphics and has been a PITA with some other updates over the past couple of months. I manually had the system check for updates and WU found the update and failed TWICE with the info in the screenshot below. I do NOT have WU set to defer.

KB INSTALL ERROR.pngYet!! Watching the CPU temp climb to almost 160 degrees I opted for a reboot to clear whatever was causing it. Afterwards I checked the OS version and found it to be 18362.387. Amazing!!

Update installed anyway after error.png
