My Outlook uses port 465 for SMTP and port 995 for POP3. I need to add them to the protected ports in the AntiSpam filter. Why can't I do this? I'm getting bombarded with spam and this seems like a good way to stop it or at least reduce it. Any assistance the forum can render would be greatly appreciated. I just got off the chat line with Norton Support staff---they helped me add the ports to the Firewall Traffic allowed list-----and unfortunately, nothing's changed. No offense to them, though:-)
Hi processman06,
Unfortunately, Norton AntiSpam is not able to filter the encrypted traffic on those ports. Only ports 110 and 25 are supported, and this is the reason that Norton does not permit other email ports to be included in the protected ports list. Does your email service provider offer any spam filtering feature as part of the service? That usually will block the majority of spam messages.
